When Tina Turner's autobiography I,
Tina was published, Ike Turner found himself accused of years
of serial adultery, drug addiction and domestic violence and was
shunned by his music business peers and a whole generation of music
fans. Following what he himself calls his "15-year party" in which
he slipped into a downward spiral of narcotics abuse and
self-hatred, he eventually hit rock bottom and ended up behind
bars.
Now he's back and ready to tell his own story. This autobiography
perhaps tells us little that we didn't already know about the man
who became more famous for beating up a superstar than for his own
work, but it does give Ike the opportunity to come clean about the
reputation that has dogged him for so many years and proves that he
is ready to make amends and face up to whatever the future may
hold.
